     George Joachim was born on 5 January 1873 in .1,2,3,4,5 He was Roman Catholic. He married on 24 October 1899.6,4,5 George Joachim lived accross the street from the Schaefer home. When he was 9 years old, his mother said, «George, Mrs. Schaefer just had a new baby today, why don’t you go accross and see if you can help out». Little did he know this would be the girl he would marry 17 years later.7 He worked at Diamond Crystal Salt Co. (1907) then as a young man worked as an apprentice in the shipyards in St. Clair. He enjoyed playing piano and the coronet. He started the Walpole Island Indian Band. In 1910 was asked to organize the Marine City Band. With the offer came an opportunity to work at the McLouth Shipyards in Marine City where became more knowledgable about shipbuilding. In 1923 he began working at Gar Wood Incorporated in Algonac, Michigan where the Miss America’s were built. He continued his work for Gar Wood Boats in Marysville, Michigan. He was a plant superintendent. Highly respected for his innovative design ideas and contributions to quality and production. Well respected by his workers.8,9,10 He and , twins, celebrated their 50th Birthday together in 1923.
